Interior Panelling
Sugi Interior Panelling lines walls and ceilings in a premium selection of warm, fine-grained Japanese timbers. Designed to play with light and shadow we have a wide range of profiles for creating considered and tactile spaces.
A panelling system that adapts to any interior — simple to specify and efficient to install.
Each board carries a fine, even grain and a soft, tactile surface that lends a quiet sense of craft to a room. Lightweight and dimensionally stable, the timber is straightforward to handle on site and built to stay true over time.
A considered range of profiles — from tight closed-negative and crisp V-groove to expressive open-negative reveals — lets you tune the rhythm and shadow of a wall or ceiling to suit any architectural language. Each is supplied with full technical drawings and installation guidance, so detailing and fixing stay straightforward.
At its heart is sustainable Japanese timber. For centuries, Japan has managed its forests with a patience few countries can match — selecting, growing and harvesting with the next generation in mind. The result is a renewable, responsibly sourced material with a depth of grain and character that only time can produce.

What timber is the panelling made from?
Japanese cedar (sugi) and cypress (hinoki) — prized for their fine, even grain, light weight and warm tone.
Does interior panelling need to be finished?
Indoors it can be left raw for a natural look or finished with a clear or tinted interior oil. See the Finishes & Colours guide.
How is it fixed to walls and ceilings?
Panelling is secret-fixed or face-fixed to battens or framing depending on the profile; confirm the detail for your chosen profile.
Does timber panelling help with acoustics?
Timber-lined surfaces, particularly grooved profiles, can soften and warm a room’s acoustics.
What profiles and sizes are available?
A range of open-negative, V-groove and closed-negative profiles — see each profile drawing for dimensions and cover.
